Live: Combo Courses Now Available

American Red Cross Combo courses (ALS+BLS and PALS+BLS) are now available to purchase. These courses combine the full ALS or PALS course with the BLS challenge course for a convenient and streamlined experience. The combo courses are only currently available as a BLENDED offering, requiring an instructor check off for the combination skills session.

Reminder: All current students in progress in R21 American Red Cross courses (legacy) must complete the course by August 31, 2026. All legacy courses will be retired at that time, and students will need to be reenrolled in the new American Red Cross R25 courses.

Expected July 28th: Launch of Resuscitation Skills: 2-Rescuer

July 28th will be time to begin planning for the transition from the current resuscitation skills application to the new Resuscitation Skills: 2 Rescuer app. The new app delivers improved Manikin-based training with new features that will improve the training experience. The current version of the app (legacy) will be retired on January 15 — this notification outlines what the transition involves and the immediate steps to get started.

Launching the new app is completely in your organization’s control, there are no automatic updates. You will create your own launch timeline. Your IT team will deploy Resuscitation Skills: 2-Rescuer to all managed devices and remove the legacy version of the app. Learners do not need to install anything themselves.

Deployment Timeline at a Glance
  • Phase 1: Assign your deployment team, complete a technical readiness assessment, and send initial awareness communications.
  • Phase 2: Run a pilot with Manikin Facilitators/Superusers/Champions and educators, validate legacy app removal, and finalize/adapt training materials.
  • Phase 3: Execute enterprise-wide Resuscitation Skills: 2-Rescuer deployment, send go-live communications, and staff dedicated support coverage.
  • Post Go-Live: Monitor adoption, resolve issues quickly, confirm the legacy app is fully retired by January 15, 2027.
Full 90-, 60-, and 30-day deployment calendars, accelerated 60- and 30-day calendars — plus email templates and FAQ documents — are included in the plan linked below.

Roles to Assign Immediately

A successful deployment requires four named owners: Executive Sponsor, Deployment Lead, IT Deployment Lead, and Education Lead. You will also need to identify Manikin Facilitators/Superusers/Champions in each clinical unit to support go-live adoption. Full role descriptions are in the Change Management Plan.

Start Here: Your First Steps – Phase 1
  • Identify your Executive Sponsor, Deployment Lead, IT Lead, and Education Lead.
  • Confirm your organization’s target go-live date and legacy app retirement deadline (no later than January 15).
  • Identify Manikin Facilitators/Superusers/Champions in each clinical unit.
  • Engage your IT team to begin the technical assessment (MDM, firewall, authentication).
  • Review the full Resuscitation Skills: 2-Rescuer Deployment Change Management Plan (linked below) and share it with your team.
  • Join the HealthStream resuscitation community for additional launch resources.
Full Change Management Plan: The plan covers the complete 30-60-90-day change management guide, governance structure, stakeholder roles, sample email templates for every milestone, FAQ documents for learners, educators, and IT, and ready-to-use deployment calendars.
