Workforce Trends to Watch in 2026: Insights for IT and Nursing Leaders

As you plan for the year ahead, staying informed about workforce trends is critical to building resilient, future-ready teams. Our latest blogs, Healthcare IT Workforce Trends to Watch in 2026 and Nursing Workforce Trends to Watch in 2026, highlight the key forces shaping healthcare workforces, from AI’s impact on IT and nursing workflows to cybersecurity demands, staffing shortages, burnout, and data-driven workforce planning. Each resource includes practical insights and executive perspectives to support smarter strategic decisions. Explore the full blogs and access additional resources for CIOs and CNOs on our 2026 workforce trends resource pages.

hStream for Portal Coming Soon!

Soon, you’ll see a refreshed, modern look—while keeping the same easy experience for submitting and tracking your support cases.

Live: BLS/ALS/PALS Instructor Update Assignments

The updated 2025 versions of BLS, ALS, PALS provider (base level) courses are now live. Any students in progress in the legacy versions (R21) of BLS, ALS, PALS participant or instructor courses (students who started the course prior to February 3, 2026) must complete the course AND skills session prior to August 31, 2026. Any students who have not completed the course at that time will lose progress and need to start over in the current updated courses.

Every instructor is required to complete the Instructor Update course for their discipline before performing skills checks for students taking these 2025 courses.

NOTE: All current instructors/instructor trainers with HealthStream Learning Center (HLC) student accounts were assigned the applicable Update course in January. Instructors must complete the update course for their discipline by no later than August 31, 2026. Instructors who do not complete the update course by this date will no longer be able to perform student checkoffs regardless of the expiration date on their instructor certification.

Live: Participant, Instructor, and Instructor Trainer Course Releases

We’re excited to announce the publication of the new American Red Cross Participant and Instructor courses across BLS, ALS, and PALS.

The courses have the same names for assignment but are reversioned with the new 2025 content and will automatically take the place of the old “legacy” courses in assignments going forward. All students already in progress in a legacy course have until August 31, 2026, to complete the course.

Be sure to review the new courses and share their availability with your teams and learners.

Live: New Resuscitation Reporting Dashboard

We recently updated your reporting dashboard to a new platform that brings enhanced performance and improved stability! The layout and information you rely on remains familiar, but behind the scenes, we’re setting the foundation for several key enhancements to come later this year. NOTE: Your existing Resuscitation Dashboard will remain available as we all transition to this upgraded platform.
